It’s my new love!
I stumbled across this site a while ago and have fast fallen in love with it. The idea is that you join swaps and send to a partner or two (or more). You rate them and they rate you which is a system put in place to keep it fair and quickly weed out any no-sends or ‘flakers’ as they are called on the site.
The list of things being swapped is huge. From Postcards to Crafts. Sweets to Blog links. Penpals to Art. It really does seem like you could find a swap involving anything that takes your fancy. And if you don’t find it, you can create one yourself and there’s sure to be someone who’ll swap with you.
It’s been great fun and the perfect way to fire up my crafty inspiration. I’ve been sent some lovely fabric, papers, embellishments and all sorts of goodies. It’s also been great to de-stash some of my craft stuff. Especially stuff I’ve had for a while that hasn’t been used yet.
But my favourite thing about this idea? Getting nice things through the letterbox! A lovely postcard, an envelope of Tea I’d never find in the local supermarket or a lovely piece of fabric to dream up a use for. It’s certainly bringing a smile to my face. And I’m also loving the process of finding the goodies to parcel up and send off to my partner. I also love the the kids and I are looking up places that we’re sending to and getting all sorts of things from countries we just would have contact with otherwise.
It’s a lovely new hobby for 2013 which was one of my goals. And it’s also put me back in touch with my long standing hobby of all things crafty. Now all I need is a desk to craft at and a camera to photograph the results!

Swap-bot is really great! I also like postcrossing, which is kind of the same idea: for every postcard you send to someone you get a postcard back from someone else =)
Swap-bot really is a wonderfully way to meet people from all over the world, not to mention a great motivation to try new crafts. I look forward to seeing pictures of whatever you come up with.
i also use swap-bot to fulfill me urge to make and send things. I really like your blog, and the style in which you write, kind of like reading a book (which i haven’t done in ages). Keep it up, and good luck on your journey onward, all the best!

love it to bits, too! =) more than 50% of the postcards i have are from swap-bot members and this year, i’ll join more craftsy swaps. i also need to use the stuff i’ve been keeping for years. it’s nice to finally use them and send it to someone, like a gift. {{blogging into 2013 swap}}
